All about Lopi

Absolutely loved the creation of this Norwegian designer. She's now studying in Australia. Her works are also heavily influenced by Iceland culture. She calls herself half bred as her parents were from Norway & Iceland.

Greenpeace and Dirty Energy Used by IT Data Centers « Energy.BlogNotions - Thoughts from Industry Experts

Found this article very interesting & related. Specially when I myself is sharing this article on my BLOG. GreenPeace has a point from their perspectives when they attack Facebook Data Center for energy usage. There's absolutely no doubt that All of us bloggers enjoy using the Internet to write our blog posts, syndicate them out to places like Twitter, Google Buzz or Facebook and comment back and forth with our friends. The problem with our happy blogdom is that each search query, and every picture upload uses energy. In a way we are polluting the environment but this is the trade off we make between earth’s needs and human’s needs. At the same time places like Google, Amazon, and Facebook continue to make major steps forward to improve their data center energy efficiency as it makes good business sense. Google has reduced their data center energy consumption by 50% in the last 5 years and other data center companies have no reason not to do the same thing. So should GreenPeace be angry at IT Data Centers where in one case a 50 % reduction in energy consumption occurred in under 5 years or should the blame fall on us ? Personally, I fully do agree with the author by saying that the Internets 2 % consumption of all the electricity produced in the world each year is a good trade off for the efficiencies it gives us.
